Byrd likely not to accept arbitration

Marlon Byrd has until 11 p.m. tonight to decide if he will accept arbitration from the Rangers. He’s not expecting to accept it.

“I don’t think so,” Byrd said Monday afternoon.

That hardly means Byrd doesn’t want to come back to Texas. He does. His desire remains to stay with the Rangers. But it doesn’t appear that will be the case.

“I still don’t know,” Byrd said. “I don’t what they’re working on and I have not clue if they’ll be able to do anything. I don’t know what my market value is but if they want to get something done, they know I want to be back in Texas.”
