Official: Vallejo going to the Astros
The Rangers have made it official: Jose Vallejo is going to the Astros. Vallejo joins Minor League pitcher Matt Nevarez as the two players acquired by the Astros for catcher Ivan Rodriguez. The Astros get a third player if the Rangers make the playoffs.
Vallejo, a standout defensive player, was hitting .233 in 84 games at Triple A Oklahoma. He was not having a good offensive season but is still a worthwhile acquisition for the Astros.
