Rodriguez to start Wednesday

Manager Ron Washington expects to start newly acquired Ivan Rodriguez in Wednesday’s game against the Twins. He wanted to give Rodriguez at least one start on the current homestand, which ends Thursday.

Rodriguez was hitting .251 with eight home runs and 34 RBIs over 93 games with the Astros this season when the Rangers acquired him. He is the Rangers’ all-time leader in hits (1,732) and doubles (344).

Rodriguez is the No. 2 catcher behind Taylor Teagarden. He is expected to start two or three times a week.
