Rangers host Purke at Ballpark

Matthew Purke, the left-handed pitcher from Houston Klein High School, was a guest of the Rangers at the Ballpark in Arlington on Saturday night.

Purke, who was the Rangers No. 1 draft pick in the June First-Year Player Draft, sat with his family in a private suite and watched the Rangers defeat the Red Sox, 7-2.

There were no negotiations during the visit. The two times remain apart in their discussions but have until 11 p.m. CT on Monday to get something done. If not, Purke is planning to attend TCU.

Purke did get one obstacle out of the way. He had his pre-signing physical done this week and passed. Now the two sides need to get a deal done.
