McCarthy headed for Oklahoma City
Brandon McCarthy is headed for Triple A Oklahoma City. McCarthy, who has been sidelined since June 9 with a stress fracture in his right shoulder blade, will begin a medical rehabilitation assignment on Saturday against Sacramento. He is scheduled to pitch 2-3 innings and it’s the first of at least four outings for him with the RedHawks.
“We’re certainly going to get him built up,” Rangers manager Ron Washington said. “We don’t want him back up here pitching on a pitch-count. We’ll go rehab start by rehab start and see where it goes.”
