Francisco throws rehab; Millwood "realistic" for Monday

Frank Francisco threw one inning with Double-A Frisco on a medical rehabilitation assignment on Friday in San Antonio.

He needed 24 pitches in his one inning of work. Francisco had a strikeout and a hit allowed.

He was placed on the disabled list retroactive to July 10 with walking pneumonia. Francisco will be re-evaluated after this outing to see if he’s ready to be activated.

Millwood took Friday off in his recovery from a strained left gluteus muscle, which he says is feeling all right. He will not make his start on Sunday but says it’s “realistic” he’ll go Monday.

His baseball-related activities on Saturday will be dictated by how he feels when he comes to the ballpark.

Scott Feldman will make Sunday’s start on short rest after his abbreviated outing on Wednesday.

nippert deserves a shot i guess he looked good in his last start(5and 2/3rds 5 k’s 2 walks 1 earned run)..but his previous two before that he didnt even reach the 5th inning..ofcourse he was on a short leash as far as pitch counts go and didnt look to bad but he hasnt been that sharp..i want to see Elizardo Ramirez get a spot start or two with the major league club..he isnt on the 40 man roster so it isnt going to happen but he has looked good the last two years in tripple A and if you subtract his relief apperances and the numbers he accumulated at those times his stats as a starter are really nice…he laso has a few starts with the reds a few years ago and did well here and there..i think we should see what hes got..he isnt over powering but hardly walks hitters..he challenges just as ryan and washington preach..only 28 walks in 111 innings..nice
