Vizquel scratched from lineup
Omar Vizquel was scratched from the Rangers lineup about 20 minutes before game time with flu-like symptoms. Elvis Andrus replaced him in the No. 9 spot in the lineup and at shortstop.
The Rangers only have two other players on their bench — backup catcher Taylor Teagarden and outfielder Nelson Cruz, who is suffering from a fractured finger in his right ring finger. Cruz hit today and says he feels “40% better” than he felt yesterday and thinks he could’ve started today.
Vizquel is hitting .288 this season with a .352 on-base percentage while spelling Andrus at shortstop and Ian Kinsler at second base.
