Borbon sent down…McCarthy on the 60-day DL

The Rangers have sent outfielder Julio Borbon back to Triple A Oklahoma in order to activate pitcher Dustin Nippert off the disabled list. They have also made room for Nippert on the 40-man roster by putting Brandon McCarthy on the 60-day disabled list.

Borbon was 1-for-5 in his stay with the Rangers. His departure leaves the Rangers with just three players on the bench and an eight-man bullpen that right now includes Derek Holland.

McCarthy is on the disabled list with a stress fracture in his right shoulder blade and is not expected back until August. He has just begun a throwing program.

Never made any sense, with Ron’s feel lineup stranglehold. What a waste of time for Julio. Such a productive talent too.

i guess it makes sense, but Borbon right now is hitting almost as good as Kinsler, and is faster also.

“but Borbon right now is hitting almost as good as Kinsler”… Almost, Really? With 5 ABs, .200/.200/.200, it is difficult to measure his long term performance and Borbon does not play 2B. Get over it, Kinsler is not going to AAA

Isn’t Brandon McCarthy a younger version of Mark Prior? They even look alike. They both spend more time on the disabled list than they do on the mound. Only time will tell if young Brandon can sign as many contracts (and steal as much money) as Mark did.

Would be nice to take back that John Danks trade.

And we traded Danks for this guy????
