Rangers finish draft heavy on position players
The Rangers chose 31 players over the first two days of the draft, 21 of which were pitchers. They finished the 2009 First-Year Player Draft with a string of position players.
Of their final 20 picks, only nine were pitchers. General manager Jon Daniels said the draft’s strength was pitching and that the team would take the best player available throughout the draft, regardless of position or level.
