Rangers take Tanner Scheppers

The Rangers have taken right-handed pitcher Tanner Scheppers with the 44th overall pick. That's the compensation pick for Milton Bradley. Scheppers could have been a top ten pick out of Fresno State except for a shoulder injury. The Pirates took him in the second round – 48th overall – but he did not sign. He has been playing with St. Paul Saints in the Northern League.

How ironic that they took a guy with injury concerns as compensation for Milton Bradley. I really like this pick. They must feel like Sheppers is healthy and if he is, he’s a steal as a supplemental pick. With the first 2 picks you get the high ceiling high schooler and the college guy who could advance quickly.
