McCoy throws first pitch

Texas quarterback Colt McCoy had a poster of Nolan Ryan in his bedroom growing up.

McCoy met his idol after throwing the first pitch at Monday’s Yankees-Rangers game.

“(Ryan) critiqued me a little after it,” he said. “It was pretty special. Growing up, I wanted to be a pitcher.”

Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez offered some advice to McCoy over the phone: don’t bounce it. McCoy avoided that, taking a few steps back as he does behind center and throwing the pitch a little high.

Longhorns coach Mack Brown, who threw the first pitch at the Rangers Opening Day game in 2006, told his quarterback to just enjoy the moment.

“That pitch is by far the hardest,” McCoy said. “It was completely different from throwing a football. It was a great experience and real fun.”

I boo’d him. I boo’d him roundly. I’m an OU man. I hear he and Sam Bradford get along well. That’s the coolest thing I have to say about Colt McCoy, though I’m told by Thom Brenneman said: “If you are fortunate enough to spend five minutes around Tim Tebow, your life is better for it.” Actually, I’m not told that. I heard it happen, prompting me to ruminate that if Thom feels that strongly about Mr. Tebow, he should ask him out for a drink………..if he could only work up the courage.

I kid, I kid……..to a degree. I respect the hell out of all three quarterbacks I mentioned. Brenneman’s love fest aside, I’m not looking forward to the National Tim Tebow Season impending, but I do admire a worthy adversary. McCoy and Tebow both fall into that category. BOOMER!

It’s FUNNY YOUR THE ONLY LOSER BOOING HIM IM A LONGHORN MAN LET’S SEE TEXAS BEATS OU HUMMMM OO LET’S SEE FLORIDA BEATS OU HUMMMMMM AGIAN OOO I GET IT BOTH QB’S BROKE APART YOUR SO CALLED DEFENSE HOLD YOUR BOOS FOR YOUR TEAM WHEN YOU END UP WITH 1 LOSS THIS YEAR OR 2 BYU ANYWAYS WHAT’S THE MLB TEAM IN OKLAHOMA OOOO NOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT STAY IN OKLAHOMA IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT HERE LOSER OU IS SO OVERATED

Oh, can it milkman(really?)! Texas couldn’t play defense last year and would’ve gotten taken to the woodshed by Florida. Micheal Crabtree and Graham Harrell can attest to that. You winy crybaby! Just like all UT fans (and OU too! for that matter). UT is always overrated and has the BCS system to prove that they are number one at one thing: crying about it!

are u kiddin me!?!? the 08 UT football team was the best football team to ever touch pigskin. Better than OU, better than Florida, better than the Lions, and most definitely better than the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“OU IS SO OVERATED” – 6 Big XII Championships in 9 years tell a different story. FYI the caps lock key can be accessed, from the home position by reaching the little finger on the left hand, one key over (from the ‘A’) to the left. Additionally there are several, helpful punctuation marks one row below home position on the right side of the keyboard. You may want to replace your keyboard entirely, as some keys appear to be sticking.

And, for the record, I’ll come to Texas anytime I please. I never said I didn’t like it there. I like your Rangers, your race track, the cotton bowl, real beer and many other things that I spend my hard earned dollars on, contributing to your economy. I’m guessing you’d better hang on to your job as “milkman” as you will clearly not be working for the Texas Tourism Board anytime soon.

Don’t be mad at Colt for owning OU like he is going to do this upcoming year. OU did not deserve to be in the championship game and Florida showed them why. I’m so sick of stupid wanna be Texan people rooting for the Cowboys and Rangers. Please all Oklahomos stay in your godforsaken state and get your own teams. Oh yes, and nobody remembers Big 12 championships. You gotta win the big one to be remembered. Sam Bradford will get lit up in the pros, I look forward to seeing it. He is the most overrated QB in the nation.

The Cowboys?

As far as the nobody remembering Big XII Championships, that’s spoken like a fan of a supposedly dominant team that’s only won 2. National Championships? UT is gonna have to win 3 just to catch up with Oklahoma. Florida was the better team in the National Championship game, but hey, they’re no Ohio State, right? As far as following, supporting and rooting for the Rangers, you, joshrock, milkman or any other jealous, internet toughguy aren’t going to be able to stop me from doing that.

Sammy may indeed get lit up in the NFL, depending on the strength of the O-line of whatever team he ends up on. McCoy, on the other hand, may also suffer similar abuse, but only if a play carries over far enough out of bounds to knock the clipboard out of his hands.

McCoy is an outstanding college quarterback, and as I said before a worthy adversary. With the 2 units OU and Texas are returning this season, if UT doesn’t win in the Cotton Bowl in ’09 it will be squarely on Mac’s shoulders. Texas will have more talent again this season.

I find it funny that the OU guy is the only one giving respect and due, but yet the Texas guys just show why everyone hates Texas, because they are wannabe tough guys. I too am an OU guy. But I do love to go to Texas Ranger games and root for them. After all, the Rangers certainly think that Oklahoma is good enough to be the home of their Triple A team, or did you tards forget about the Redhawks. Where most of the Rangers players have come through to work on the skills they have now so that way they can be as good as they are now.

Wow! I think an NCAA playoff system could’ve avoided this whole post! Now I see why they don’t have one. Back to baseball and our Texas Rangers.

I do not see how the only guy giving respect comes into the Rangers stadium, in Texas, and boos a Texas QB. OU is a good team, you’ll get no argument from me. As for the tough guy thing, I don’t go to Norman and boo Sam Bradford. Why are you so mad at Colt anyway? It is not like he ruined your season. OU still got a free pass to the national championship and they lost. How someone gets away with an “everyone hates Texas” statement in a TEXAS Rangers forum is beyond me. But yeah I’m the wanna be tough guy.

So, am I not allowed to boo any UT team/staff members at the Cotton Bowl, since that, too, is in the state of Texas? Just trying to get these rules straightened out. Thanks, in advance, for your advice on etiquette.

The internet toughguy comment was directed at your worthless self appointed govenorship over who you will and won’t allow to be a Rangers fan as determined, I assume, by geography.

So, do you have to live in Texas currently, be born in Texas, what? What if you’ve watched King of the Hill a whole bunch and decided you might like to live in Arlen if it were real? When is it ok to be a Ranger’s fan? I guess the millions of people who live in the 30 odd states that aren’t home to a MLB team or, God forbid, outside the US, are just **** out of luck, having no right to be a fan of baseball at the Major League Level.
