Benson for Mendoza
The Rangers are activating pitcher Kris Benson off the disabled list and optioning Luis Mendoza to Triple A Oklahoma City. Benson will likely go into the Rangers bullpen. Scott Feldman is still starting on Wednesday against the Athletics. Benson has never pitched in relief at the Major League level.

Neither Eddie nor Mendoza belong in this lineup. Glad to see at least one of them forfeited. I can see Kris Benson as a good long reliever. And, hopefully soon, we’ll see Holland in this rotation.

The way the rotation is going Andrew who do you think ougth to be lrft out of it? Our rotation has been golden since Benson left it. Why fiddle with it especially for a guy whose last major league experience was the quality of Holland’s. Holland is at best a project. He ought to be in AAA but Nolan Ryan sees something that he wants at the Big Leeague level. Doesn’t mean he should start.
Great series. Why is it we never hear from D’god when the Rangers are winning? D’god? Can you spell “fan”? or are you just a kibitzer?
Who gets DFA first? Eddie G, Benson or Mendoza? Beau Vaughan and AJ Murray look like the best options from the farm right now and neither is on the 40. I realize Benson is going to get a chance to stick in the bullpen, but I wouldn’t mind sacking the 2 old guys in favor of Vaughan and Murray. AJ’s new delivery is supposedy extremely hard for hitters to pick up and Beau has been nothing short of filthy since the Arizona Fall league.
I think they are going to stick with Feldman in the rotation for a while. The only reason he didn’y get the job out of ST is the organization knew we had a pen weakness and counted on him to fill it. I guess he just got in a starter’s groove last year and in the spring. Eddie G looks like a pure situational guy now plus there is always the injury bug. I’d sit on as much pitching depth as I could for now. Just depends on Benson’s attitude I guess.
