Eyre to the DL, Mendoza called up

The Rangers have placed RHP Willie Eyre on the DL, and called up RHP Luis Mendoza from Oklahoma City to replace Eyre in the bullpen.  Mendoza was named the first PCL Pitcher of the Week for April 12th to 19th.  Mendoza has a 0.00 ERA: 10 1/3 IP - 4 hits – 6 BB – 13 K for the Redhawks.

This is the fourth change the Rangers have made to the bullpen in the past week.  More on the website later.

One-third of our pitching staff changes within the first two weeks of play….Wow, now that’s a vote of confidence!

Feldman is pitching on Sat yet he threw in last nights game, so did Holland. Now Holland pitched well, Feldman did not. Hmmm, what might be the reasoning in starting Feldman over Holland on Sat?

I understand that Holland probably threw more pitches (though I’m not sure) but cant a kid his age throw again that quickly? Remember the 4 man rotation? Everyone pitched that way.

But who knows, I guess guys like Cy Young, Walter Johnson and the like probably flamed out too soon because they pitched too often. I’m done rambling now

Watching Murph struggle is killing me. I love the kid’s game but he’s broken. Will they ever send him down to AAA to work out his funk?

Why exactly did we just sell Kason Gabbard back to Boston? Do we have too many young left handed pitchers? What is going on? I hope they’re not blaming his jersey for last night!

Gabbard is 27 and walked 11 batters in 6 innings at Oklahoma.

I hope they let Gabbard take that jersey because it’s bad luck…….

Can someone please explain to me what Washington is thinking? Don’t get me wrong, I like him and don’t want to see him go anywhere, but the decisions he has made lately are really leaving him open to serious second guesses…

1) Tuesday…You’re in a close game, late inning, and you lift Michael Young?

2) Wednesday…You’re going against a lefthander. Salty is better from the left side and hasn’t been going very well in the early part of the season. Isn’t this a perfect time to get Teagarden a start? Instead, he starts Salty, then turns around on Thursday night and starts Teagarden against the righty.

3) Wednesday…Holland has come in and done a great job. You lift Holland, with the game tied, for a guy who has a 400+ OBA coming into the game and has had trouble throwing strikes. This one day after you had to use your closer for 5 outs. Holland, being a starter, could have given us innings, instead of burning more bullpen innings and eventually calling on a guy 30-minutes removed from an airplane. Not to mention, given Harrison’s ineffectiveness of late, it would have allowed Holland regular starter’s rest in case he was needed long or in place of Harrison for the lefty’s next start.

4) David Murphy…can we just get the guy some consistent at bats…come on already.
