Bush asked to throw out first pitch
Rangers owner Tom Hicks said former President Bush has been asked to throw out the ceremonial first pitch on Opening Day at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Bush has not yet confirmed that he will do so.

ugh.
I am more concerned with the 40 who will be on this opening day roster.
39 at present
Hurley/Benoit to DL makes 37
Andrus/Guardado locks 39
Visquel beats Arias and its 40
Now help me a minute to recap this
Did the pitching side just lose 2 of the 40 man slots to the hitters?
More importantly, offense just trumped pitching and defense again on a roster decision…..troubling……but wait, if Arias is kept then the slot is available to add a pitcher or have it for a Jennings/Benson callup…….
Mike Maddox: Do you see why you are going to be challenged here? When will Sheets be ready?
OMG. Why not ask Barack Obama.

Even if Texas is Republican Country, do we really
expect a war criminal to be cheered?
**** bush and **** hicks
fuuck bush and fck hicks
powder, in a baseball blog I hesitate to ask….but my curiosity has gotten to me. If Bush is a war criminal as you state, exactly what crime has he committed? Please include the statute and authority of that statute with your response. And by the way, in our country, the President has little power without the support of Congress. So please enlighten us. The other garbage by a creative typist deserves no response.
If he does throw out the first pitch, I’ll give him a standing ovation. I disagreed with many of his policies especially at the end. But, anyone who is elected President has given the country great service. I believe he has given his country more than any of us over our lifetimes. Only the ignorant think that one man in the USA would have so much power. I don’t believe that about President Obama and I didn’t vote for him or his socialist agenda. That’s why the 2010 elections are so much more important than the past Presidential election. Respectfully submitted. Remember, because we disagree doesn’t make us enemies. We just disagree.
Sullivanian, I present his role in the falsified reports of “yellow” plutonium as areason to go to war and the loss of American lives. He is not a hero just because he was president. He also had his crooked hand in the mess that is our current economic situation. He is not and never will be a hero. He was a joke as a president and we, as Ranger fans, must never forget “. . .baseball under the stars.” Our pitchers haven’t! Socialist agenda, give me a break!

Dear mrhallway:
Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating public or state ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and a society characterized by equality for all individuals, with a fair or egalitarian method of compensation. Modern socialism originated in the late 19th-century intellectual and working class political movement that criticized the effects of industrialization and private ownership on society. Karl Marx posited that socialism would be achieved via class struggle and a proletarian revolution, and would represent a transitional stage between the capitalist and communist modes of production. (Pretty good definition from wiki).
Does the above sound familiar? It should and it’s the most un-American philosophy one can have on this side of tyranny or dictatorship. Anyone who embraces this ideology embraces the destruction of the USA as we know it. The uniformed Obamabots are so starstruck by his eloquence, they don’t see what he’s really doing. Even other world leaders are currently dressing him down.
As for you response to President Bush. Do you really believe that one man can have so much control? You really don’t understand how government works. I don’t agree with many things that happened in the last administration any more than I agree with what’s happening now. I would still like to see a definition of a war criminal and exact war crimes documented by statute. Anyone can use a broad brush of speculation to label someone as a war criminal. Bring facts. What exactly was his role in falsified reports of the yellow plutonium? And, you should at least concede that the Democratic Congress for the past two years has been and still is a joke. Or do you worship the ground that Pelosi, Frank, Dodd, and others walk on as you hate President Bush. And now, back to baseball. How ’bout them Rangers?!
Thanks, Sullivanian, for your textbook definition of socialism and, no, I’m not naive enough to belive you are right and, as I write this, a judge has just released a 98 page ruling on the crimes perpetrated by officials in the the Bush administration for the crimes against international law committed at Guantanomo Bay. Do you honestly believe that Bush didn’t have knowledge of the crimes committed there? Did the proliferation of those crimes help win the war in Iraq? His role in yellow plutonium? That was his reason for going to war! The reports were false! Standing ovation! You and who else? He is the worst president in U.S. history. And, no, the above does not sound familiar in regards to our current andministration. Now, back to “baseball under the stars” oh wait, that same moronic hero of yours brought us that brilliant sentiment and as a Ranger fan I’ve watched the summer heat ruin our chances at a quality free agent pitcher pitching here. Standing ovation!
With the number of fans booing, I’m not sure that is such a great way to start the Rangers season……….
Now if he promises to look over at the opposing dugout and bark “we’re going to waterboard your ***” then I’m ok to have him out there………
Okay, you have listed crimes committed by officials in the Bush Administration, but you still, even with your yellow plutonium reference, have not succeeded in naming something, beyond a reasonable doubt, that Bush himself has done. Violations of international law? If you check, our country has not agreed to participate in the “international court” and we have not given up our sovereignty yet. I guess you are one of the people who will welcome and are willing to support some of those “victims” who will be released from Guantanamo.
The worst President in history? I think Jimmy Carter’s legacy might have something to say about that.
Our current President just fired the CEO of a “private” business. Since when in the history of the USA has something like that happened? At least be brave enough to admit you support socialist ideology. If you don’t see the parallels going on now, your much more naive than you think and you are part of the problem. George Bush is no longer the President and you guys are running out of “it was Bush” coupons to blame the ills of the world on. Do you agree with the Federal government trying to punish AIG using tax law which is a clear violation of the U.S. Constitution? That’s what socialist/communist governments do. (see USSR, China, Cuba, etc.)
As far as baseball under the stars goes, I don’t want a “quality free agent” who doesn’t have the guts to pitch here. There has been many successful pitchers who have done well here. Ask Fergie about that heat in his 25 win season. How about Blyleven, Perry, Nolan Ryan, Charlie Hough, Kenny Rogers, John Burkett, Aaron Sele, and Ken Hill? All of those guys had quality seasons in the heat so it can be done. The fact that those are the only quality names I can come up with in 30 years of Rangers baseball defines the sub-mediocrity of the franchise more than the Texas heat and baseball under the stars. But, as most socialist liberals, you would choose to blame George Bush for 37 years of Ranger frustration instead of facing reality. In fact, reality is that the Rangers franchise has had their ONLY success during the Bush ownership. We all watched as Tom Hicks quickly dismantled that when he got here, or maybe that was Bush’s fault too.
Sullivanian, you and all your bush lovin idiot friends never, ever take the blame when something goes wrong and its your fault. I don’t know where you’ve been the last 8 years but . . . What’s the point, you’ll just start crying about it being someone else’s fault. And to let you know I’m not a socialist but I do work for the state so there you go. Your man in office put this country on the fast track to nothing and here we are. Accountability!
Well, there you have it. A typical Democrat response when his back is against the wall and his arguments are shallow. Name calling. Now it’s MY fault and I’m a Bush lovin idiot.
I guess you missed the part where I said Pres. Bush did a lot of things, especially at the end of his run, that I don’t agree with anymore than I agree with the continuation of that by the current President. This is the problem with our country. We have been divided into Republicans and Democrats and we seem to have shed the common ground of being an American. If what Bush did is so bad, why is it okay for President Obama to do the same thing but amplified? I have been watching over the past 8 years as our country was attacked, we got involved in 2 wars (legitimately or not), and we had a major hurricane destroy and American city. Those catastrophies I guess I’ll take full responsibility for if you need someone to blame. But, how is all of this spending solving the problem? If you max your credit cards and get behind on your mortgage, do you try to spend more money, or do you try to cut back on some things, consolidate your debt, and steadily work to pay it down. What our, yes OUR, government is doing today is totally opposite of solid, time tested financial principles.
Finally, our country is at the beginning of something that is going to be unlike anything we have ever faced. At some point, you, me, and everyone else is going to have to push the donkey and elephant aside, bind ourselves together, and lift our country out of this mess. If you lay your hopes at the feet of greedy politicians, you have no hope. Hope lays in a return to the values of our American forefathers. Values that include a small government that is here to protect our borders and our personal security; not to sell us a car or guarantee our warranty. I still enjoy this discussion and I respectfully disagree with you.
We agree to disagree. Let us put aside our differences and enjoy what brought us here in the first place. Here is to my respect for opinion and your right to express it in the first place. Man to man, I don’t agree with your opinion but I’ll demand your right to express it. Let’s hope you and I can converse more about what could be a magical Ranger’s season. That is what brought us here in the first place, not blue states or red states. Would you agree? Go Rangers!
Agreed mrhallway. Absolutely agreed! See ya on another Rangers post and back to baseball.
My name is Jim Chiampo….I am from Columbus Ohio..my phone number is
614-905-6934 cell or 614-392-0219.
I am asking for help to buy tickets to the Rangers Openor vs
Cleveland. My son and I are flying in on Monday hoping to find
something that does not require bailout type money. My son has a
brain tumor and wants to see all the major league ballparks….to date
we have seen 25 parks. This is his wish…to see the mall. I tried
the ticket office…sold out except for a few $60 and up…too steep
for us. If you could even get us some standing room only…not for
the stub hub price of $60…but for around the normal price we would
be happy to pay you when we get there…maybe even be able to take you
out to breakfast. I am desperate…any help would be appreciated. God
Bless You!
