Rangers zero in on Vizquel
The Rangers have a good chance of signing Omar Vizquel, an 11-time Gold Glove-winning shortstop. Vizquel would give the Rangers an option if 20-year-old Elvis Andrus is not ready in Spring Training. Vizquel is a free agent and there is a good chance of something getting donr.

So in essence we could have a 42 year old short stop playing Young’s position if Andrus struggles….If i am Mike Young, i am now putting my second request in to be traded. Hey TR, looks like the Rangers agree with Hefe and i that Young doesn’t have the range as Vizquel, a 42 year old multiple gold glover? Let Andrus play the position….end of story. He is going to struggle, all young players do. The main thing to keep his confidence up, not let him lose it while he does so. Why in the heck are we not spending any available money on pitching? We do this every freaking year. Everyone knows we need pitching and we always go out and try to hit on some injured pitcher, hoping against all evidence that the person will rebound to their previous levels. What has been spent on pitching i.e. Lowe and others well we could have afforded. Go get Sheets and Rogers and this will help….. In case others have not been watching, in the past years we have gone through 25 + pitchers per year. You can never have enough pitching, it has been killing us, do something about it.. Go get Sheets at least, please!!!!! Can Arias not play shortstop, is his arm done??? If so we have nothing to show for A.Rod and Soriano, both probably HOFers…. Wow. Is it any wonder?
Here is my projected lineup for 2009: Pitchers: Padilla, Millwood, Harrison for set starters with two open spots. Feldman, Nippert, McCarthy, Hurley, Diamond, Holland and Mendoza to compete for other 2 spots. Bullpen: Gabbard, Madrigal, Rupe, Turnbow, Benoit, Wilson and Francisco. Catcher: Teagarden/Saltalamacchia
1B: Davis
2B: Kinsler
3B: Young
SS: Andrus/Vizquel
LF: Murphy
CF: Hamilton 4th OF: Byrd
RF: Cruz
DH: Blalock/Ramirez
What are we to do with Cat and Boggs?

9) SS Andrus- R once Andrus adjusts i would move him higher in the order, maybe leadoff or second because of his ability to steal bases. (Lets say it together Rookie of The Year…….
I still go get Sheets and Rogers for starters. Would this really cost us that much money. Let’s at least get Sheets….
This off season has been torture. I’m a pretty big optimist and usually stay pretty positive but now it’s just getting ridiculous. From the beginning we hear JD and the front office saying that their priority this off season is to go get pitching either via trade or free agency. Who have we got so far? Turnbow? Really… There will never be another off season when there is this good of a crop of pitchers in free agency at a pretty reasonable price.
Can someone get this message out to the front office that the FANS WANT SHEETS!!! You want us to believe and have hope for this team this year and show up to the ballpark then go out there and show that you are making an effort to compete this year. We want a front of the line rotation guy who has shown that he’s an ace and an all-star caliber pitcher and that guy is Ben Sheets. You say you are interested now go get this deal done. The pitchers and catchers report in about a month.
This is ridiculous
Surely what is important is the team the Rangers start the season with, not who is signed up at this moment. Anyone who suggests moving Jammer out of the 1st Inning isn’t operating on all cylinders. Josh needs to bat #3. Period.
Lead into him with Kinsler and Young then follow him up with Cruz or Hammer, Hammer or Crush then everyone else picks up the pieces left by the damage the first 6 hath wrought.
