Young said he was told to play third

Michael Young said he wasn’t asked to move to third. He said he was told he was moving to third base and not given a choice in the matter. Young said that’s why he is so upset at the Rangers and wants to be traded. He said his job has been basically taken away from him for no reason.

I think it’s a rotten way to treat the guy that’s been the heart and soul of your team for years and stayed loyal to the team by sticking around despite the losing seasons. The issue isn’t him moving it’s the way its been handled. I’ve been cautiously supportive of JD so far, thinking that he’s just had poor directives in the past, but how this has been handled is just bush league. I want to see Nolan force a public apology out of JD then ask him to switch positions for the good of the team.

If Young is to be moved to a different position it has to be with his consent.

I still maintain that the smart move is Young to second (his original position) and Kinsler to third. Kinsler has better power numbers than Young and third is a power position. Young is a better defense second baseman than Kinsler.

If the new guy is as good at shortstop as advertised then the defense is improved and the hitting isn’t significantly disrupted.

Don’t trade Young!

I admit that I don’t follow the Rangers that closely, but is Young not able to play third? I can understand that he would prefer first base, but shouldn’t it be about what is best for the team?

What is this? Jeopardy?

If only my boss phrased everything he told me to do in the form of a question.

Bobcat you are a freaking genius. Sadly, the Rangers love the fact that Young requested a trade. It is what they wanted all along to trade him. Otherwise why else does this make the media? Because they want the out. Hey he isn’t a team player, he wouldn’t change positions? What a joke, Mike is a team player has done everything they requested. This is just two fold, Young wants out and he too can save face, by telling the fans i didn’t want to leave they forced me out with this non-sense. He wants to win and 3 + years until we have a chance puts him at 35 so he has to go. Young may go to a team and play short this year, but a position change back to second is in his future and he knows this. This is a mutually agreed upon destruction. How about Jon Danks and Dye for Young? Now that i would go for.

And bobcat, you can color him gone. Salary Dump, salary dump and i am ok with that if we spend the money on starting pitching.

I will do what my boss tells me and sit on the bench if they would pay me the major league minimum.

And question of the day. I can understand that the Baseball Writers didn’t vote Jim Rice into the HOF on the first ballot, but i don’t understand what has changed after so many years. IF he wasn’t good enough to get in the first 15 years, then what changed between years 1 to 15? It is a joke that the baseball writers vote one to two players in. If Gossage and Sutter are in as closers then Lee Smith has to be in. There are going to be pitchers voted into the HOF that have less wins than Blyleven has now. Will he then get voted in after he is dead, because they voted pitchers with less wins than him. I personally do not believe that we are going to see that many more pitchers win 300+ games ala Greg Maddux. Blyleven and Ryan were pretty much the same pitcher record wise, up til Ryan’s last 5 years where he solidified his HOF selection with 2 more no-hitters, 5000+ strikeouts and over 300 wins. So in essence the only thing Blyleven did wrong was quit too early. I would take Blyleven in his prime on this Rangers pitching staff and the only things you would hear about him is that he is the staff ace and millionaire. The guy could pitch and his curveball was pretty much the nastiest one in the modern day era. He will get in one day hopefully before he dies. The alive hof members should have the vote. You may or may not like Peter Edward Rose, but he deserves to be in the HOF “Charlie Hustle”. Why not just print the truth on his plaque. One of the best players of all time, all time hits leader, three time World Series winner, a leader on the Big Red Machine. Managing career less than impressive. Banned from the game of baseball for admittedly gambling on the game. “Even God reserves judgment of men after the end of their days.” The only reason i say this about Rose is that once we are dead and gone, those who saw him play, what of his legacy. Who will remember him and what he did?
