Mark Connor is back; Will Eddie Guardado be back?
The Rangers have re-hired Mark Connor as a pitching consultant. Connor was the Rangers pitching coach last season until let go at the end of July and will help out mainly in the Minor Leagues.
The Rangers are also looking at re-signing left-handed pitcher Eddie Guardado, who was 3-3 with a 3.65 ERA in 55 games for the Rangers until he was traded to the Twins in August. He would provide protection behind Frank Francisco and C.J. Wilson at the back end of the bullpen.
Rangers manager Ron Washington also said on Tuesday that right now Nelson Cruz is going to be his cleanup hitter. The Rangers appear ready to give him a good look in right field.

Nelson needs to step up and be that big right-handed bat breaking up the lefties Hamilton, Davis, Murphy and Blalock. I think he’ll do it.
I’m 100% behind bringing Guardado back. He’s a great veteran presence to have around a developing staff.
