Rangers meet with Sheets
The Rangers met with free agent pitcher Ben Sheets and his agent, Casey Close, on Monday afternoon at the winter meetings.
Rangers general manager Jon Daniels set up the meeting but club president Nolan Ryan also attended.
“It was a chance for us to get to know him, ask questions and vice-versa,” Daniels said. “I wouldn’t read too much into it.”
The Rangers went into the winter meetings saying they were not going to be big players in the free agent market because they don’t have much money to spend. But that didn’t keep them from at least meeting with Sheets.
“He’s a player we would have interest in, in a vacuum,” Daniels said. “The free agent market isn’t a vacuum.”

Trade Millwood to Atlanta for a case of balls if they take the whole salary, and use themoney saved as well what they would have paid Laird to sign sheets.
