This news sucks beyond the ability for me to express its suckness.

Hopefully he will be able to play winter ball. He should be traded as part of a package for pitching if he’s not going to play here, and his value was high. Here’s hoping that it remains high.

Wonder how this changes the team’s approach regarding which catcher(s) to move this off season…

He’s still young, younger than Teagarden. It’s not a serious injury. Good to let Teagarden play a bit. Which catcher moves this offseason will depend on what the other team in the deal wants.

Winter ball is going to be big for him. Hopefully rest will be all he needs.

After ‘superstar’ Laird’s comments on the DMN Rangers blog, I’m ready to see him gone for the best pitcher available. He’s never going to be happy not playing every day and yet, everytime he’s given the job outright he starts to hit like a pitcher.

I have a feeling Salty and Teagarden can share time next season without mouthing off that they’re not playing enough and that they deserve better, and if we can get a young stud pitcher for one of those guys, I’m cool with Ramirez as the back up.

I would agree that Laird has been a little too willing to let his alligator mouth overcompensate for his second half mediocrity. It would appear that the timing is right for Laird to move on this winter, and the desire to part company is likely mutual.

Laird obviously hasn’t seen “Bull Durham”. He needs to learn the baseballer’s script. And what about Franky Frank tonight? As Josh Lewin said, he’s starting to look very closerish.
