Blalock on DL, Young in lineup

Hank Blalock is on the disabled list with a sore right shoulder. Michael Young is in the lineup despite a fracture in his right ring finger. Ryan Roberts has been activated… More on the website

Sorry to hear that Hank is back on the DL. He’s has had a rough year. Our “Boy” Josh reported last night during the game that Hank had an upset stomach. This sounds a little more reasonable. This will at least give Roberts a shot and I hope it is as productive for him, as some of the other younger players who have joined the Rangers this year.

Looks like we wil be seeing a lot of “Tex” over the next two months.
Go Rangers!

Hank Blalock…. Sigh.

In my heart I’d like to see the Rangers pick up the option on Blalock. I just don’t know that they can, though.

Very trying times for Hank, I’m sure.

Agreed, Briant. When fans refer to someone as “injury prone” it usually sounds as if they are blaming the player concerned, and that somehow he is doing it deliberaely. It does indeed look unlikely that the Rangers will pick up the option on Blalock. He’s given a lot to the Rangers, and it would be a crying shame if this is the beginning of the end of his playing career.

I really expected Hank to bounce back from the Thoracic Outlet Syndrome surgery the same way Kenny Rgoers did. Must be a lot of scar tissue in that shoulder. Too bad, I really like the way Hank plays.

On the other hand, Anyone who has ever questioned Michael Young’s leadership style should just ****.

So much for the Rangers not wanting to trade Texiera to the Angels. Tex is there now and if he wins out there he may re-sign. It is great we will get to see him a lot in the future. Rumor has it he hits well out in Arlington, Texas. Looks like we got a good deal. What were the Angels offering last year Saunders and Kotchman? See what happens when you lose control over a player, the thing you feared most ends up happening anyway. Blalock was being showcased and was going to be dealt. Maybe he figured that out and didn’t want to be traded so he jaked it. Blalock is going to prove he is healthy before we get a can of worms for him. At this point, i would not pick up his option. I would move MR. Davis over to third and let Max play first base. I would not trade Laird, Salty can go for the right price. Salty cannot carry Laird’s jock as a catcher….End of story.

I’ve heard it said, d’god, that in some parts of the world if you run over and kill achicken, you should immediately seek out and kill it’s owner. Otherwise you will be sued not only for the chicken, but for the eggs the chicken would have laid, and for the chicks which would have hatched from these eggs, and for the eggs that these chicks would in turn have laid…….Why do I mention this? Well, far be it for me to stoke the fires of your paranoia, but it could get much worse than for Tex to torment us as an Angel for the rest of his career. If he signs elsewhere next year the Angels would get two draft pick who would in turn torment us, and each would turn into two futher draft picks to torment us, each of which would turn into…….. Within a few short years the whole league will be tormenting us, and all Ranger fans will be lamenting “O me miserum! Why didn’t we listen to d’god?” But, alas, d’god, you know what they say about prophets in their own land….. (And we know it’s your land because you won’t allow anyone else to call themselves a Texan)

So, what, Dgod, you’d have the Rangers hang on to Teixeira to keep him out of the Angels hands until he can become a free agent and sign with the Angels if he so chooses anyway? If the Angels had been willing to add a third player to their offer he’d had been an Angel this entire time so I fail to see how “the thing you feared most” enters into the equation. The fact remains that the Rangers got a ton of young talent and the Braves got skinned. Good for the Angels. They have Teixeira now. They can have him for 8 more years if they beat the Yankees offer this offseason. Same as it ever was.

Oops… I kept trying to post and the gremlins prevented it. Seems they were only delaying it…

If you realistically look at the Angels’ situation, you will see that they will most likely not be re-signing Tex. They have many issues coming up in the off season so they are trying to buy a ring now. Hopefully, he doesn’t poison their clubhouse. The Braves seemed all to willing to cut their losses and get what they could. I wonder if they’ll start to play better with their new guy. I’ve been critical of JD, but give him his due. He hit a home run on Tex last year. And, even if Tex is an Angel for life, he will never be feared like Vlad. If we suffered through Vlad, we can certainly suffer through Tex. Anyone sick to their stomach to see Pudge in pinstripes? I am. I still love the guy. As it was when Sunny got a ring with the Royals, I was happy when Pudge got his with Florida. But, I have to draw the line of loyalty with the Yankees. I wish nothing better than a 3rd place finish for him this year.
