Loe sent out

The Rangers have optioned Kameron Loe to Triple A Oklahoma. That leaves Wes Littleton, Josh Rupe and Robinson Tejeda competing for two spots in the bullpen. Rupe is starting to look good.

Remember when the Rangers thought Kam Loe and Chris Young were the same pitcher? I do. Well maybe Loe just needs to go to San Diego and he will pitch better. Ha ha. I remember everything they say and do to justify what they do. If Botts makes the team, then Cruz has to make it. It is the same logic. Trade Byrd and/or Cat to open up a place for Cruz. Why do we need a right handed hitting first baseman? Remember when Ron Washington said Broussard was going to play full-time, bat against right and left handers? I do. The statistics speak for themselves, Broussard can’t hit left handed pitching. If he could, he would still be in Seattle and or Cleveland. Is the Cat and Byrd still here? Salary dump, Salary dump. Why is Cat still here? Why did he come here? Bradley is my full time DH, Cruz is my RF, Ham in CF and Murphy in LF. Not too bad, young and the future. But alas no, we must win this year. Have they looked at the Angels and A’s pitching staffs? Angels, Tigers, Red Sox, and Indians. We will be lucky to climb out of 4th place. So get on with it, start finding players for our future. Are Bradley, Cat, Broussard, even Young going to be here 3 to 5 years down the road? No…. So everytime we play those 30 year olds it just delays the progress of someone that can and will help us in the future. That is all i am saying, give youth a chance. I think you will find that it is eager to please, wants to prove they belong and will hustle on every play. I personally believe that it would be exciting to watch, just as it was to watch Young and Kinsler develop.

Loe appears to have been beaten down. He, and only Loe himself, will be able to pick himself up. Laird was the most beaten down and he fought to get back.

Your youth analogy puzzles me a little, Loe is younger than Rupe or Tejada? You still have to make the team and this is still considered a young team.

“Remember when the Rangers thought Kam Loe and Chris Young were the same pitcher? I do.” – Do you have a link to a quote from someone in the organization that will back that up? If those 2 were compared based on their heights it would only be natural, but anyone who actually watches the Rangers knows that Kam is a groundball pitcher and CY is a flyball pitcher. They are complete opposites in terms of how they attack hitters.

“Loe just needs to go to San Diego and he will pitch better.” – It can’t be ignored that Chris Young, the flyballer, has benefited enormously from playing the cavernous PETCO Park. He’s great in that pitcher’s haven (1.69 ARA) and totally mediocre on the road (4.52 ERA.)

“If Botts makes the team, then Cruz has to make it. It is the same logic.” – If roster space were unlimited it would be logical to keep both. In the real world where a roster is limited to 25 players you can only have 2 back up outfielder/DH types and one of them needs to be able to play first base.

“That is all i am saying, give youth a chance. I think you will find that it is eager to please, wants to prove they belong and will hustle on every play.” – I think you’ll find that the Rangers have one of the younger rosters in baseball. They were in the bottom third of the league last year even with Lofton and Sosa on the club.

Anyone else remember when hefe had something original to write other than attacking something i wrote? Well i guess i don’t either! Ha Ha. They may be a young team, but they have a couple of players in their 30′s that are standing in the way of some younger players. Specifically Broussard, 31 or going on it, Bradley 29 or going on 30. Cat at 33 or 34, Millwood 30 +. While that isn’t old, it is too old for a team that will be competing in 2010, 2011, or 2012. That makes those guys in their mid to late 30′s too old, not big contributors to a playoff team. If we can get there. That is what i am saying. Get some guys, find some LONG TERM solutions, not stop gap, rent a player. Cat needs to go, dump his salary. It is what the Rangers love doing anyway. While i don’t like Hamilton’s past, he is the perfect example of the type of player we should be playing, 26 to 27 years of age, with a ton of potential. He is the only guy we got this winter that fits for the future, if he stays clean. The only one. Now Murphy fits, Mendoza fits, all of the young pitchers Rupe, German, Wilson, Gabbard, they all fit. I believe Cruz is the player we had to have just 18 short months ago, the “key to the deal.” Now he is about to be released??? What is it? Say what you mean and mean what you say. If you made a trade, said this was the coveted player, then either your scouts need to be fired or you need to be fired. Have they really looked at him enough to decide that he can’t play? I don’t think so. The compairison of Loe and Young was done by none other than Buck Showalter. Now Buck knows his baseball, is a bit of a control freak, but can manage. I believe that Buck was saying that he thought Young was a little injury prone was good for about 10 wins and that they could get those 10 wins from Loe. Young was probably sent because he was a flyball pitcher. The only thing similar was that they were both young, especialy Young who is Young. Ha Ha. Anyone else remember when the Rangers said Volquez was the real deal a possible front of the rotation guy, then he was a 3rd or 4th starter at best. How the heel do they know? Let this season decide, let see what he produces on the field. That guy took the next step last year and we won’t get the payoff! Now Volquez has pitched lights out in Cincinnati, Danks is tearing it up in Chicago. DVD, DVD, DVD. Anyone else remember that campaign? I do!

By the way, i don’t believe that this is a court of law and heresay is enough. Heresay means that a friend of a friend told me something. Ha ha. I will use it in a sentence for you: My friend told me that the Texas Rangers will never win, because of their refusal to commit to a total rebuilding job. In a court of law this would not be admissable. It would get struck with an objection that it was heresay. Now being the good prosecutor that i am, i would then have to put the person who said this on the stand and have them say it. In this case, i would call the former Southlake, Texas Ranger GM, Doug Melvin and ask him what did you say to Tom Hicks as you exited. “The Texas Rangers will never win, because, Tom Hicks refuses to commit to a total rebuilding job.” The State rests Your Honor!

Kam will rebound at AAA. We have a pitching COACH up there. As opposed to a pitching COORDINATOR at the MLB level.

Kam got sent down last year and only had to have a talk with the guy at AAA, never threw a pitch in a game, and came back a better pitcher. As I understand the gist of the talk was just an observation of what he was doing in his delivery when he got sent down versus what he was doing when he was successful. It’s not about teaching guys how to do it everyday on the big club but doing something like Rudy does with the hitters, recognizing what a guy has that makes him succeed and building on that with the intent of making that success the routine not the goal.

I just think there is a disconnect between the players and the coach at the MLB level when it comes to pitching.

Anyone notice when smeone points out things that D(GOD) writes that and makes a point that they are attacking him. He says he is a BIG statistic man. He doesn’t like it when the stats says different than what he preaches. But thats o.k. because the GAME will start soon.

I hope Loe can rebound at AAA. But if he’s going to do so, he needs to develop a better secondary pitch, or at least learn to control his curveball.

He has one pitch, that wicked sinker, and that has been much too inconsistent this spring. He’s a nice guy, and I hope he rebounds, but I’m starting to think his time on this team is growing short.

Hopefully Loe can turn it around down there at AAA, pitch lights out, become a top rated prospect, then be traded. DVD, DVD, DVD! Now that is one stat we can all agree with, our top pitching prospects get dealt. So hype him and sure enough he will be gone. With Daniels in control who is next Harrison, Hurley, Feliz. You never ever, never ever trade young pitching. So lets say Hamilton hits like DGOD, what are his defensive skills in Center Field? I am asking because i don’t know. Is he the CF of the future or will he be moved to one of the corner spots? If he is moved to right or left field, is it really worth trading Volquez for him especially if Volquez becomes a 12 to 15 winner. I say no. If he stays in CF and becomes a stud, plays great defense, then yes. But if he is moved to a corner outfield spot, those players are a dime a dozen. An all-star CF now that is something. Hateful, hateful, hateful, is the tone of a lot of people on here. It is just my opinion people, just as it is yours. I don’t have to be right or wrong it is just an opinion. And i don’t wilt under attacks or criticism. You are entitled to your opinion as i am mine. So it is starting to heat up, i hope the Rangers do well, hope Padilla and Millwood get 34 wins, doubt they will, but hope they do. Go Rangers! And i am pulling for Hamilton, but it is a day to day struggle. For those who don’t know i have 46 year old meth head, cocaine addicted brother, whom i love, who has been in prison 3 to 4 times for his dependency, so i am not just speaking from a law enforcement side. I have been dealing with this kind of stuff since i was 9 years old. I am now 41 years old, so i do have a little insight, with 32 years of experience.

To answer your question about Hamilton’s defense in center, he’s legit. Legitimate center fielder’s range with a plus arm. He could be there for the next 5 years, or if Julio Borbon can hit enough to play in the bigs he may take over center in 2-3 years while Hamilton slides to right. That would be an exceptional defensive outfield.
