Wakamatsu leaving
The Rangers are expecting third base coach Don Wakamatsu to leave the organization and join the Oakland Athletics coaching staff. An announcement could come as early as today. The Rangers are looking for a replacement who can cover Wakamatsu’s three primary duties: coaching third base, catching instructor and running Spring Training. Finding a good catching instructor is the top priority.

How about Joel Skinner, after what happened the other night in Boston, he is probably available. He is a retired catcher, coaches third base, not so sure about running spring training. Wakamatsu for Washington. Looks like Oakland got the better end on that one. Is Oakland paying us to take Washington? Oh that is the Rangers that do that, pay people to perform for other organizations. Besides their hasn’t been much performance here in Texas. Must have to do with our entitlement program. Oakland gets a bench coach and we get a third base and infield coach who thinks he is ENTITLED to his position. As Big Bill says, you are, what you are. Just look at Washingtons minor league record as a manager. It closely mirrors what he has done in his first year in the big leagues. Does anyone really think he is going to last past the all-star break if the Rangers struggle out of the gate next year? Lets say it happens and the Rangers start out poorly next year, hey it has happened before. Then who do we get then during the middle of the season, Howe? Are their any managers being developed in the minors? Any worth mentioning? Then who? I am very anxious to see what Hillman does in KC. I am going to go out on a limb and say they have a better record and play better baseball under Hillman. I am going to say i told you so already. That guy was chomping at the bit to work here, had a past here and is from Texas. Just remember the last franchise that passed on a Texas kid, is the City of Houston, who passed on MR. Vincent YOUNG. How has that worked out? How many people have found the exit door since Washington came aboard? Wakamatsu?, Is Jaramillo next? Looks like it will be Pettis, Howe and Washington left. Can Connor be far behind?
Since Baseball is a game of statistics, how about these: Class A Managerial record, 123 wins-153 losses out of 276 games, for a .445 winning percentage. .453 the first year, 64-77, 13 games under .500, .437 winning % the second year, 59-76, 17 games under .500. So we see that Washingtons team actually performed worse during his second year. Professional record, 75-87, 11 games under .500 for a .462 winning %, .09 % better. If he improves .09 % on what he did in his second year then he will only be at .446 %. Here is betting that the math works out to what his average is .445. I will take that bet if anyone is interested. With the math proven, i did take statistics and Calculus you know in College, what has he done to deserve this managerial job? Other than have a good positive interview and willingness to take less money and years. Numbers don’t lie. So does he get 114 games next year to prove that he is a .445 kind of guy or is he gone by the all-star break?
Say goodbye to Jaramillo and say hello to Jacoby. Mike Young isn’t going to be happy, just another reason for him to start crying about California, my family is there, i want the money, but i want to be near my family.
Washingtons’ minor league managerial record 30 games under .500. Total for all three years 198 wins, 240 losses 438 games. That is enough for me. At least he is positive though. You would have to be pretty positive to be able to get up in the morning with a head coaching record like that. L for loser. Kevin Kennedy anyone? Joe Giradi? Bobby V?
Totally agree with you about Hillman. I can’t possibly fathom why Daniels and Hicks fell for RWash. Didn’t they sleep on it?
Hillman is a class act, well-spoken, and loaded with credentials. We blew it.
And i quote….”The organization also has to prove it’s committed to keeping talents like TEX and SORI,” added YOUNG. HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA. If this “organization”, and i use the term organization loosely, has shown anything it is it’s lack of retention of its key players. Hey Young, do you really believe this? Do you really think they care if you are happy and what you want? Call me a cynic if you like, but until it is proven otherwise, it ain’t gonna happen. In fact i am going to start calling this franchise, a disorganization, their is no organization to it! Or a disenfranchised franchise. What is this disenfranchised, franchised a part of other than disorganization? I do not understand why you didn’t go to free-agency, didn’t you know that you would have got the money and the winning baseball elsewhere? Why did you resign here? How many key guys have left this team since you were brought on board? Let me remind you, A-Rod, I-Rod, Palmeiro, Rogers, and Soriano! These are just the few that i can remember. All for different reasons, but mainly because Hicks didn’t want to pay. I don’t give Young more than 18 months before he is dealt. I like the guy, but i feel sorry for him. Why? Because he is fastly learning that money isn’t everything, something that alot of us here on this blog already know. He sold out and will never win here. He will figure this out pretty soon. By the time we are competitive, if we ever are, he will be on the downside of his career and his 200 hits per season will be a distant memory. Say hello to California for me Mike. Good Bye Jarmillo, you could have been the manager here, probably should have been. Looks like someone else ain’t getting along with Mr. Entitlement.
