I don’t know much about Marlon Byrd, but was very unenthusiastic when we signed him. He performed exceedingly well this Spring, and really had the stats to make the Major League team-but was instead sent to the minors. I wish him the best; hopefully he can put some life into a moribund team.
I have to use this time to express my complete exasperation with this team…it’s a team–IF we want to call it that. What we have is a complete failure in all aspects of the game: pitching, hitting, defense. I have really grown to like Ron Washington. I like Art Howe, Rudy Jaramillo, Don Wakamatsu, and Mark Connor. The players generally have good track records, IN PREVIOUS YEARS, that is. Millwood has yucked it up this year, as has Padilla. McCarthy has done better lately, and Tejeda has been better, too. Aki and Gagne look okay. We know Michael Young, Tex, Blalock and Kinsler, our cornerstones, are better players than this. Gerald Laird can only dream of reaching the famed “Mendoza Line” of ineffectiveness, hitting-wise. No one expected Brad Wilkerson to do anything, and he hasn’t. Kenny Lofton, when on-base, looks good. Nelson Cruz, in spots, looks like a player. Cat, Hairston, Kata, etc..are fair. WHERE IS THE BREAKDOWN, I ASK??? It is a total meltdown. It is brutal to even watch these guys on TV…and I’ve stopped. I don’t believe in good luck/bad luck, as every team has injuries. The players I mentioned above have more talent than is obviously on display. Who is to blame for this current misery? Is there anyone to blame for the breakdown in all major areas? The players rode Buck Showalter out on a rail, because he had the audacity to expect top performance, was vocal about it, and was “intense.” For Goodness sakes! The players are letting their “man”, the player’s manager down, by stinking up Arlington and all of Tarrant County. The stench sifts across SW Fort Worth way, a most unwelcome odor. TV is fast becoming a non-option for me. I pray that without moving pictures, graphics, and images, that Eric Nadel doesn’t become an on-air alcoholic, and doesn’t get a rubber room, in having to fill in air-time around all the trips to the mound, replays of errors, and whiffs with men on third and less than 2 out. I pity Eric Nadel more than anyone else, because he has to not only watch the grossness on the field, but try, try to form words to describe this team. Eric, if need be, grab a Jack and Coke early in the broadcast, I’ll have one with you. (AND THIS BLOGGER IS A LOYAL, STAUNCH TEXAS RANGER FAN). As Popeye once so deftly stated, “That’s all I can stand, I can’t stands no more!”
bingosinatra says it all for me. It is so hard to watch the games on tv. I just knew this would be the year that we did not finish last. I have no hope what so ever after watching all the games so far this year. The errors, walks, strike outs and the
players saying that they are still trying. They sound like a bunch of politicians.
When washington came in and turned the club house over to the players was the start of the decline. The inmates can not be in charge. Buck wanted to hold the players accountable, but NO that’s not the way they wanted it. They wanted to run things so we now have the results. Everyone says spend more MONEY and we will get better players. They want fan support & respect. THEY NEED TO EARN IT.
Eric Nadel does have the hardest job and needs to have his salary doubled. If he doesn’t have an ulser after this year he will be a better man than me. Guess I will go chill a bottle of wine and get ready for the game this afternoon as I will need it.
It’s hard but still a ranger fan.
I think Washington, lost this team when he turned it over to Young and Teixiera. Did the players want Wakamatsu as manager. Do they not like Washington? Why hasn’t Washington been fired already? I like the guy, but he is on a sinking ship and he doesn’t seem to be able to right it. The season is already lost, Washington, obviously isn’t the answer. Get on the phone to Hillman, the guy you should have hired in the first place. Start trading the veterans and REBUILDING. It is our only hope. We are going to hit rock bottom, if we aren’t there already so go ahead and admit this and start providing hope. How much punishment do we have to endure? I still think we should organize a boycott of the stadium. Maybe we could get the 3,000 to 5,000 in attendance to turn their backs to the field, or walk out in protest of Hicks, his management team and the offensive baseball that is being played.
