Millwood, Mahay DL

The Rangers have placed pitcher Kevin Millwood and Ron Mahay on the disabled list and have called up pitchers A.J. Murray and Scott Feldman. Murray and Feldman will both be with the Rangers at the Mickey Mouse Minor League ballpark at Disney World Tuesday night.

Well, it looks like Kevin Millwood has gone by the way of Adam Eaton, at least for awhile. If he comes off the DL in the scheduled 15 days, he’s sure to get a medical rehab assignment to OKC or Frisco before he comes back, meaning we’ll probably see Roger Clemens take the mound in NY before we see Millwood again. It might not make that much of a difference anyway, as Millwood has been about as effective as Eaton this year.

But what puzzles me is neither AJ Murray or Feldman are starters for OKC. I bring this up, because I have an intersting observation: CJ Wilson has worked a total of 7.1 innings in his last three appearances. 3.1 in NY, and 4.0 total in two games against the Angels. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see what’s going on: they’ve been building CJ’s arm up. My guess is CJ will be slotted into the rotation, and Feldman and Murray will fill out the ‘pen. I’ve heard Murray has Kenny Rogers-like stuff, but I just don’t the Rangers are dumb enough to go putting a guy with no Major League experience into the rotation again. They tried that with that Volquez kid, and we all know how that worked out.

Actually, if they do put CJ in the rotation, I think it’ll be another dumb move. We need a guy like CJ in the ‘pen, and we’re talking about a guy who I think could be closing for us inside 5 years. Regardless of what they do with CJ and AJ (we’ve got a CJ and an AJ now. Funny, no?) What they should have done is called up John Koronka to fill the rotation spot. He had a rocky start to the year, but has been lights out since, save for getting roughed up by Tuscon on sunday.

It may be a Mickey Mouse minor league field – but there is nothing minor about the prices they are charging for tickets
starting at $119.00 per seat for the first 4 rows nearest the field – “http://disneyworldsports.disney.go.com/dwws/en_US/baseball/events/detail?name=Spectators2007TampaBayDevilRaysEventInfoDetailPage

Where are we – bottom of the third, Tuesday night? I vote we release Lofton right now, put Wilk in center and call up Botts.

If you read the STARTLEGRAM, then they are predicting we are going to lose 98 games. I am saying we are going to lose 100 games. Does anyone remember how the Detroit Tigers re-built their team? They threw some pitchers out there that lost 19 games and now these guys are lights out. Go young, Go now. Does anyone really think that the Rangers are going to recover? I hate to be sceptical, but the handwriting is on the wall. This isn’t the Oakland A’s organization, a team that is notorious for starting slowly. Lets not waste this year, find some players this year. Put CJ in the starting rotation, put anyone else in there that you think is going to be a long term solution. Millwood, Padilla, McCarthy, Loe are good, find another starter. Build your staff. Play Botts and anyone else that might be a long term solution. ARIAS should be up here, if you think he is the future. Young is going to be the 2nd Baseman here, move him back there now. Trade Teixiera for some good prospects. He is gone. I don’t think he likes the environment here and wants to play Major League Baseball. This team lacks consistency. Buck Showalter must be lauging his *** off right now as Opie Daniels tries to make it without him. What is the plan Opie???????

or Marlon Byrd.

The point is that i want to win it all, i would rather destroy everything we have, be bad for a couple of years and then win the world series. I don’t want to be mediocre and hope to win about 82 to 83 games. So what. That isn’t going to put us where we want to be, the World Series. I call it the Dallas Cowboys plan. Remember when Jones and Johnson, shucked their first season and went 1-15? They were building for the future, acquiring talent that would help them win the Super Bowl and Super Bowls. We are going to have to committ to scouting, drafting and making the right trades. At the All-Star break, we should deal, Otsuka, Gagne, Teixiera, Wilkerson, Lofton, Catalanotto, Sosa all for young talent. Young, Arias, Blalock, Botts, Cruz, and all the other guys should be untouchable.

While watching the game the other day, Grieve said McCarthy looked like Alfred E. Newman from Mad Magazine. How about a compairison picture with Newman and McCarthy. It was the funniest thing i have heard in a while, other than the statement that the Rangers are contenders in the weak AL West. My only question is can Newman pitch?????? He join the other comedians that we have on this team.

Well, Brad Wilkerson just hurt his leg. There goes that power streak. I’m with br549 (and I believe I’ve said this before, and dwidregod said it yesterday) it’s time to call up Botts. And Byrd, too.

why is Eyre starting? can we give Koronka a chance already? like he can do much worse.

Where exactly do you think Arias should be playing, dwidregod? He hasn’t even played a game at AAA yet this season.

Boss300, i was speaking of the future. If the guy ain’t playing then so be it. Wait, maybe they should put him out there anyway. It could’nt be any worse than what Young is doing. The point is within 2 years, Young won’t be playing shortstop, he will be the 2Bagger. His range is limited now and if he don’t position himself right he ain’t getting to the ball. I like the guy and he is a player, is was admirable what he did when he volunteered to change positions, he did it for the team. Lets start putting people where they are going to be within the next 3 to 5 years, so we can fill it and focus on finding other players to fill the other positions. Lets not wait, lets start re-building now.
