Eric Nadel honored
Rangers radio broadcaster Eric Nadel has been named the Texas Sportscaster of the Year for 2006 by the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association. It is the fourth time Nadel has won the award. He was also selected in 1999 and 2001-02. Nadel has been broadcasting for the Rangers since 1979.

I love Eric Nadel’s broadcasting. He is a very bright, intelligent person with abilities beyond the broadcast booth, and I appreciate him for that. He and Tom make a super team, although I still miss **** Risenhoover.
I’ve spent many summer nights sitting on my patio, or the couch or in section 318 (in old Arlington Stadium) listening to Eric. His voice, his manner and his humor are a treasured and comfortable companion for this baseball fan.
Congratulations and Thanks Eric.
Does anyone remember Bill Mercer as the first Texas Ranger radio voice? Mark Holtz and **** Risenhoover were absolutely terrific, and beloved. Eric Nadel is a treasure as well, creating the game for the mind’s eye, and doing it with humor (he’s needed it with some of our Ranger teams), he carries much insight, and has a true sense of history of the game, and is extremely loyal. I very much appreciate you Eric-as does all of our Ranger faithful. God Bless you and yours for the wonderful years you have brought us over the airwaves. Very well done, indeed. You richly deserve this award.
As a lifelong Rangers fan who lives in CA and has to listen to the Angels’ Steve Physioc and Rex Hudler, believe me when I tell you that the Rangers have been blessed to have such quality play-by-play guys as Mark Holtz and Eric Nadel. I really miss Holtzie.
