Rangers roster Moves on Monday

The Rangers have optioned pitcher John Koronka to Triple A Oklahoma to make room for pitcher Edinson Volquez, who was called up to start Monday against the Oakland Athletics.

Koronka was 7-7 with a 5.31 ERA in 22 starts.

Kip Wells, who was scratched from Monday’s start because of shoulder problems, is expected to pitch Friday against the Seattle Mariners at Ameriquest Field in

Arlington

. He was examined by Dr. Keith Meister on Monday and the diagnosis was inflammation.

Adam Eaton is now scheduled to pitch Thursday.

I’m surprised that Koronka is the player being sent down for Volquez. Yes, Koronka needs to work on some things, and AAA might be the best place for him to do that, but Volquez does not appear to be the answer to our rotation problems. Hopefully this is only for one or two starts and Koronka comes back up in a couple of weeks and finishes the season strong…

I wouldn’t be surprised if Koronka never actually left Arlington.

From what Buck said before the game it sounds like they’re giving Edinson more than a spot start here.

I really hate to say this BUT “Stick a fork in the Rangers, it over”

What a bunch of talent to waste with second class pitching.

Our lineup from top to bottom is the strongest out there and we will get smoked by A’s and Angles who’s lineups are filled with a bunch of hacks. Why? b/c they have good pitching. Our best is Millwood and he is at best a third pitcher in a good rotation.

The Rangers are not done. This season isn’t a wash.John Kornoka has been under-par.I think the Rangers have done well for the pitching tallent that they have, just look at the bullpen, guys like wes littleton, and josh rupe.Rupe should be in the rotation instead of Volquez.

Two things come to mind. 1. Why are Benoit, Mahay, Wilson all still in the bullpen. They have proved (with the exception of a few innings that they don’t belong in the “Bigs”. Let’s get some youth up from the minors and give them a shot. More importantly, next game watch the batters hands and where they grip the bat. Not even Michael Young as good as he has been chokes up on the bat with two strikes. Why? Is this a philosophy handed down from Rudy Jaramilo? It must be. I’d would rather have no one hit over 20 homes a season and have rbi’s to replace them with. There is nothing wrong with a run scoring opposite field single. That’s why the line-up is so prone to runs of hot and cold. Look at all the other performers in the Major’s they choke up and apply situational hitting to get the job done.

It is about time Volquez can not be no worst than Karonka. He can give you five 1/3 innings just like Karonka. How much longer untill Danks is here? it can not be no worse.
